Frank Khalid has provided Chelsea fans with a couple of updates on Twitter regarding Callum Hudson-Odoi’s future.
Spoke with Callum Hudson-Odoi about his shirt number. He didn’t mind the number 20 shirt but would like the number 10 shirt in the future. He knows he will have 2 play at his best to earn the shirt but is confident. Also told me that he thinks he should be back in September. #CFC

The Director of Touch Sky Group, who has been a lifelong fan of the club, has become well-connected with the Stamford Bridge outfit and has become an ‘insider’ of-sorts.
And, according to Khalid, Hudson-Odoi appears to have hinted that he could be prepared to stay at Chelsea for a while as he would like to wear the number ten shirt one day – which was ultimately given to Willian following Eden Hazard’s departure.
In bonus news, the England international also revealed that he expected to be back in action in September.
Last month, it was claimed by The Daily Mail that Hudson-Odoi and Chelsea were thought to be closing in on a new contract worth more than £100,000-a-week and that could potentially rise to £10million-a-year if he continues to progress.
Although he had limited opportunities and an injury forced him to cut his campaign short, the teenager enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Blues as he managed to score five goals and assist his team-mates with five more in 23 appearances across all competitions.
Furthermore, his statistics collected by WhoScored just highlighted how good he was when he was given the chance on the pitch as he managed to average 0.9 key passes per 90 mins and 1.2 completed dribbles in his 10 Premier League outings.
And, with the departure of Eden Hazard, his chances of playing in the first-team should have significantly improved with Lampard at the helm as the new manager has admitted he believes the England international will be integral to his plans moving forward (The Metro).
He will have his work cut out for him though this summer if he wants to play more than he did under Maurizio Sarri, as he will have to compete with the likes of Willian, Pedro and Chrisitan Pulisic.
The update by Khalid certainly appears to hint at Hudson-Odoi staying at Chelsea as he has the desire to win the number ten shirt, suggesting that he is prepared to stay at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.
As mentioned, the fact that he could be available in September will also come as a boost for Lampard’s side as it will mean they would have another attacking outlet they can consider utilising as the Blues look to get through a difficult campaign after their transfer ban.
