Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are rubbing their hands in excitement after hearing that the West London side are confident of securing a new striker in January.
The transfer would be a major boost for Jose Mourinho’s struggling Chelsea side, with the strikers in the squad particularly disappointing this season, and the Blues look set to beat Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to Berahino’s signature.
22-year-old Berahino tried to force an exit from West Brom in the summer, to no success, but is tipped to be on the move in January as he enters the final 18 months of his contract.
Berahino has lost his place within the West Brom starting line-up following the summer’s events, which boosts Chelsea’s chances of securing a deal in the New Year.
Whilst Chelsea fans in the bar don’t believe Berahino’s signature is enough in itself to save their season, they do believe it’s a step in the right direction.
