The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Taven would love to see him at Stamford Bridge…
Chelsea’s pursuit of midfield depth has been a well-documented tale in recent weeks, with the Blues in the Tavern drawing out a long list of names that they think would be perfect in the role.
Everyone from Toni Kroos to Radja Nainggolan or even Frank Lampard have been mentioned – but it would appear as though Conte is eyeing up a move for a player that nobody would expect the Blues to land.
According to the Sun, Chelsea are keen on Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal – and the Blues’ boss allegedly held a meeting with the player on Boxing Day in a bid to tempt him to make the move to London.
The purported move has come as a real shocker for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom have touted Vidal as one of the best central midfielders in the world.
Rumours have emerged on the possibility of the deal in recent weeks, but the prospect of a meeting is certainly wetting the appetites of the Chelsea fans in attendance.
Vidal and Conte are well aware of each other, of course, given that Vidal played under the Italian boss whilst at Juventus.
An impressive, powerful box-to-box midfielder – Vidal would add a dose of mobility and strength to the Chelsea midfield alongside the likes of N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas.
Our landlord thinks that if the Blues can land Vidal, they could run away with the Premier League title this season…
