Chelsea’s six Premier League victories on the bounce haven’t happened by accident, and you don’t have to look further than Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho’s partnership in midfield to understand why the Blues are on a winning streak.
Before Jorginho’s suspension from the 2-0 win at home to Crystal Palace, they played together in the previous three league games and have plugged the leaky back four from the start of the season.

The Blues conceded 11 goals in their first five games this season, yet in the most recent three they played together they leaked just three. They’ve developed an understanding that has allowed the likes of Willian and Mason Mount to concentrate on attacking, and it’s resulted in them scoring six goals and making four assists in the league between them.
Chelsea’s official Twitter account posted a link to an interview with Kovacic where he discusses his partnership with Jorginho. He says he is “enjoying it” and thinks Jorginho is too. Chelsea fans are lapping it up as well, with many taking to the replies to show their appreciation for the midfield paring. Some even think they’re the best midfield duo in the world.
