The 4-4 draw at home to Ajax has proven to be one of the more stunning games of Chelsea’s season so far. However, the Champions League fixture is still making the headlines despite having been played months ago.
According to De Telegraaf, UEFA have admitted that the Blues were given an unfair advantage during their clash against the Dutch champions, news that has infuriated some Chelsea supporters. Frank Lampard’s side came back from 4-1 down to draw with Erik Ten Haag’s side but were given a helping hand as referee Gianluca Rocchi made a string of decisions against the Dutch champions. The Italian sent off two Ajax players and handed the west London giants an undeserved penalty during a 60-second spell in the game.
Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar has claimed his club won’t take legal action against the governing body because it’s ‘hopeless and pointless’, despite them losing out on financial rewards after finishing third and getting demoted to the Europa League (via football.london). Some Chelsea fans were left feeling infuriated with UEFA as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets from the Stamford Bridge faithful:
