Chelsea fans have had a great season when you look at it on paper. The Europa League Ronaldo, Olivier Giroud, has fired them into the final of the competition with his ten goals and three assists in his 13 games for the Blues in Europe. Now, to reward that scintillating form on the continent, Maurizio Sarri has given the Frenchman a new deal at the club.
Allez les Bleus! @_OlivierGiroud_ has signed a contract extension with the Blues!

Giroud was, and probably still is an Arsenal favourite. It will be tough for the World Cup winner going up against his former Arsenal teammates but there’s no doubt he’ll be the ultimate professional and look to continue his impressive run of getting a goal or assist for every game he’s played in Europe this season. Unfortunately, Giroud’s domestic record isn’t quite as good, but he’s still earned his new contract.
The impending transfer ban is now what the Blues will be worried about, but the Stamford Bridge faithful will be pleased that Sarri and the board are already looking ahead to getting through the next 12, or potentially even 18, months without new players coming in. The 32-year-old is likely the first of many players at the club to sign an extension, and who can blame the fans for being delighted at this news.

The Blues are delighted to see that Giroud has signed a new deal and will hope the Frenchman can fire them to Europa League glory and then star again next season.
