It’s not often that Chelsea fans get a chance to take a look at a young player in a blue shirt, but against Perth Glory, they most certainly did – and they absolutely loved it.
Chelsea’s pre-season campaign got off to a solid start on Monday, with the Blues taking on Perth Glory over in Australia during a quick trip down-under.
A 25-man squad travelled to the country, with a few surprising names included.
One player that immediately generated a lot of excitement when his name was revealed was Callum Hudson-Odoi. He got his first minutes in a Chelsea shirt last season, and he built on that with a 45-minute first-half display on Monday.
He was instrumental for the Blues, and he set up Pedro for their first and only goal on the night.
Naturally, fans were quick to react to his performance online, and it’s fair to say that they were very impressed. In fact, some are touting him for a role in the team next season, with comparisons to Eden Hazard already forthcoming.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
Quality first half hopefully gets more time in the coming days
