The win was the Blues’ seventh in a row in all competitions, and fourth straight victory in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt).
Christian Pulisic was the man who grabbed all of the headlines and deservedly so after scoring a hat-trick in the game, his first goals for Chelsea (BBC Sport).
However, another player who produced an outstanding performance in Lancashire was Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The 25-year-old completed three dribbles, made four successful tackles, played one key pass and made one interception in the match, whilst also having an impressive pass success rate of 91.8%. All of that meant that he was given a 7.17 rating for his performance by WhoScored.
Kovacic signed for Chelsea on a permanent basis in the summer after spending last season on loan at Stamford Bridge. He has become a key player for Frank Lampard and has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, including nine starts (via Transfermarkt).
His performance at Turf Moor certainly impressed the Blues’ supporters, many of whom were heaping praise on the former Real Madrid man on Twitter after the game…
