Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City earlier and fans were far from happy with the performance of Cesar Azpilicueta on Twitter.

The match against the Foxes was the first competitive fixture Frank Lampard had in charge of the Blues at Stamford Bridge and things could not have started any better for the hosts.
Mason Mount managed to capitalise on a mistake by Wilfred Ndidi after putting him under pressure with the ball and managed to expertly put it past a helpless Kasper Schmeichel inside the opening ten minutes.
Chelsea looked solid for their lead at the interval, but some rather poor defending at a corner with 25 minutes or so to go saw the Leicester villain become a hero for the visitors when he powered a header into the net, leaving Kepa Arrizabalaga without an opportunity to stop it.
Azpilicueta was, perhaps, at fault for the goal as he allowed Ndidi to make an unchallenged run into space and was overpowered by the Nigeria international’s jump and desire to win the ball.
Graeme Souness was quick to point the finger at the Spaniard whilst he was on punditry duties for Sky Sports and blamed the experienced defender for the error.
“Azpilicueta has been a brilliant defender for Chelsea but he doesn’t know Ndidi is there for the goal, he’s just watching the ball,” he said on Sky Sports following the game (via Daily Mail).
“He looks over his right shoulder and he stops that. He gave two goals away last week and gave this goal away today as well.”
Football.London gave Azpilicueta a five in their player ratings following the conclusion of the game, stating: “Got down the right to put in a couple of good crosses for the team early on. Had a lot more to do after the break with Maddison running riot and he was outjumped by Wilfred Ndidi for the equaliser midway through the second half. 5.”
Fans were not happy with the 29-year-old’s performance on Twitter and many of them took to the social media site to slam him for his latest display.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Frank will have us playing good football, however we played good under Sarri but the difference was we had Hazard to bail us out of trouble in 90% of the situations.
Vital we got 3 points today and I’m disappointed we didn’t get them.
Willian and Azpi need to leave next season.

Things we should all agree on:
1-Azpi shouldn’t start again.
2-Pedro is the same.
3-Giroud better than Apraham.
4-Pulisic should have full 90 mins. pic.twitter.com/KKFGW1cvpt— * Mr.chels * (@CFC_lawyer) August 18, 2019
Azpi losing his man again btw get this guy out of here

Kepa: shaky but not bad
Azpi: scrub, get him OUT
Christensen: love it
Zouma: good today
Emerson: impressive
Kante: running on empty
Jorginho: we fell apart when he went off
Pulisic: tidy but we didn’t play to his strengths
Mount: brilliant
Pedro: confusing
Giroud: typical Giroud— (@OlIyCFC) August 18, 2019
Azpi has done a lot for Chelsea but it’s clear as day he is a liability these days. Reece James coming into the side will hopefully be like a new signing. Sad to see but age catches up with every player and Azpi is no exception
Sad but true..

Azpi, Willian and Tammy just aren’t good enough if we want to compete Lampard has to realise this soon.
If James, Odoi and Batshuayi all come in we’ll be a different and improved team.

At this point, Reece is better than Azpi. I do respect what he’s done for the club but when one is finito you call it a day and replace him immediately. Have him around as a squad player for the rest of the season then sign another RB. Willian? No words

I’m officially done with Azpi. Play Zappa till Jame’s arrival.

Hell play Rudiger at RB if he’s fit, Azpi is done.
