Chelsea: Fans slam Tiemoue Bakayoko on Twitter after friendly defeat

Chelsea fans took to Twitter to slam Tiemoue Bakayoko following his performance in their defeat to Kawasaki Frontale on Friday.

The midfielder was handed just over 30 minutes to show Frank Lampard what he could offer after spending the entirety of last season on loan with AC Milan, especially after the new Blues manager criticised the Frenchman back in 2017.

Staking a claim for a place in the first-team was always going to be hard with the abundance of talent Chelsea have available to them in that area of the field, with the likes of N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho and Ross Barkley to name but a few of the midfield options to choose from.

However, he failed to impress many of those watching on and even saw some sections of the media leave some rather uninspiring reviews regarding his performance on the night in Kawasaki.

The Sun claimed in their player ratings following the full-time whistle that Bakayoko did not look up to speed. Giving him a score of five, they wrote: “Looked tired and sluggish, almost came off injured with a nasty-looking injury but appears to be OK.”

Fans were hardly fascinated with what they saw from the 24-year-old with many taking to Twitter to call for the club to try and offload him permanently this summer amid alleged interest from Arsenal and Manchester United this summer.

As The Sun pointed out, Bakayoko had to limp off with an ankle injury towards the end of the game leaving some Chelsea supporters fearing that they might have lost any possible opportunity to sell him and would have to keep him at Stamford Bridge until the January transfer window at the very least.

Here are just some of their reactions…
