Chelsea fans will still be reeling from that 6-0 thumping against Manchester City eight days ago. They may have bounced back with a 2-1 away win in Malmo in the Europa League on Thursday but the real test comes tonight as they host Manchester United in the FA Cup, and ahead of the game, the Blues have been slating Cesar Azplilicueta.

On the Chelsea website, the player chosen to preview the Manchester United clash has been Azpilicueta, and the fans don’t seem to have forgiven the Spaniard for his dreadful performance against Manchester City as he gave away a penalty and looked awful as the Citizens smashed six past them. However, tonight should be a different game despite the Blues’ abuse for the Chelsea captain.
The Spanish defender has the versatility to play anywhere in a back three or back four at Stamford Bridge and has found himself becoming a mainstay of the team no matter who the gaffer has been. However, like the rest of the Chelsea squad, Azpilicueta has fallen victim to losing form and dropping off under Maurizio Sarri, something that he’ll be keen to put right tonight to shut up his critics.
