For the Chelsea fans below, the number 9 shirt is seemingly a source of uneasiness.
Tammy Abraham comfirmed he will take the number 9 shirt next season, as per our guy in Japan at the friendly match yesterday: https://t.co/6CQuB7xokD

Although in the wider game of football the number 9 shirt is reserved to those who are normally the most prolific players in the team, the same can’t be said when it comes to those playing for Chelsea.
Indeed, looking at the past wearers of the number 9 shirt at Chelsea via Transfermarkt paints an almost cursed image, with the only players to score 10+ Premier League goals for the Blues donning the lucrative number during the Roman Abramovich era of the club being Alvaro Morata and Hernan Crespo, and now, Tammy Abraham has taken up the mantle according to Goal.
Of course, the reaction was worrisome amongst Chelsea fans, and supporters took to Twitter to express their concerns at the youngster taking up the number 9 shirt. Here is what some fans had to say…
He must really hate his career

It’s best he doesn’t… Regardless whether the curse of 9 is real or not. There is 19.. He should go for it..
