Chelsea are on track to welcome Thiago Silva to Stamford Bridge should he pass his medical this week.

The Blues are set to make the Brazilian their fourth major signing of the window and he will arrive in tow of Ben Chilwell, who recently joined from Leicester in a £50million deal (via BBC Sport).

Silva will close a successful chapter with Paris Saint-Germain in which he spent eight years after joining in 2012. The 35-year-old made a total of 315 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, winning 25 major honours in that time (via Transfermarkt).

Teammate Kylian Mbappe, who has netted 117 club goals in his career, has sent a heartfelt message of well wishes to Silva, who could be making the final move of his career.

"Well, it is the end. I am very sad to wish you goodbye and that your adventures end but also very proud to have been able to play with you," the forward wrote on his Instagram story (via football.london). "Thiago, my captain, you are a legend, you made your mark on the history of the club."

"One of the best I have seen and have played with."

Silva will join the West Londoners on a two-year deal, tying him to the club until the age of 37. He will be a welcome arrival for a side who struggled with their defence last season, conceding the most amount of goals out of the top ten Premier League sides.
