The odds on Lewis Dunk’s potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer have been slashed.
Frank Lampard has shown interest in signing the Brighton captain and it looks as though a move could be inching nearer. As reported by The Argus (via The Mirror), Oddschecker are now advertising Dunk’s likelihood of joining Chelsea as 3/1.
Should Chelsea sign Lewis Dunk this summer?
The Blues have earmarked the 28-year-old alongside other potential target Declan Rice as options to bolster their backline. Lampard has identified his defence as an area of concern after conceding the highest amount of goals in the top ten last Premier League season.
Chelsea are keen on signing Rice, but recently discovered West Ham want a minimum of £80million if they are to let him leave this summer (as per The Mirror report). If this proves to be too high a fee to pay, Dunk may be the next best thing, with a reported asking price of £45million.
The England international would likely start under Lampard as well, with a potential exodus of centre-backs a very likely scenario. The manager offered up both Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori in hopes for a swap deal for Rice (via Football Insider), and Liverpool have also recently been linked to signing Antonio Rudiger.
Brighton will be reluctant to see their captain leave, but £45million would be a handsome amount for the south coast side to bring in some new signings of their own.
