Chelsea legend weighing up possible return to European football

DrogbaAn interesting rumour has gotten Premier League fans in the Transfer Tavern talking after hearing that a Chelsea legend is deciding whether or not to return to Europe.

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba,is rumoured to be weighing up a loan move to Serie A side Bologna, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The 37-year-old veteran striker completed two spells at Chelsea, departed for the second time on the 24th of May, 2015 and made his move to Canadian-based side, Montreal Impact.

The Ivorian striker has so far scored 12 goals in as many games since arriving at the MLS side in July so is showing that he has no intentions of winding down just yet.

Montreal Impact owner, Joey Saputo, is also a majority shareholder and the chairman of Italian side, Bologna, so will be hopeful that Drogba is willing to switch allegiances for a short spell.

It’s quite common for some of the MLS’ biggest stars to go out on loan during the off-period (including Seattle Sounders forward, Clint Dempsey, who returned to Fulham on a short loan spell during the start of last season) and reports suggest Drogba will make the move to Italian strugglers, Bologna, to help them stave off relegation.

Bologna currently sit 18th in Serie A, winning three out of 11 games and losing the rest.

With the side only netting 9 goals this season, the possible loan move of Didier Drogba may add that bit of class required up front to keep them in the top flight of the Italian league.

Premier League fans, how much of an impact can Didier Drogba have if he was to join the Italian strugglers and can he do enough to keep them away from relegation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
