The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were hoping for the best when they saw reports linking young Dominic Solanke with a Chelsea departure…
After all, the young forward is highly-rated – and whilst reports from the Sun indicated that his departure was all but confirmed, many were still hoping that Chelsea would be able to thrash out a deal that would see him stay.
However, that now appears unlikely to be the case – with Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard confirming on Twitter that Chelsea WILL allow Solanke to leave at the end of the season.

Solanke’s contract does, of course, expire at the end of the current campaign, so the Blues would have had little choice – but this update would seem to indicate that Chelsea will not be holding any more discussions with Solanke over a new deal, with the young Englishman seemingly determined to leave the club.
This has come as a huge blow to the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, with Solanke proving his lethality during his spell with the Chelsea academy. During the 2013-14 season, the forward bagged an impressive 20 goals in 25 games – highlighting his natural goalscoring instinct.
His partnership with Tammy Abraham was a bright spark of his tenure within the youth academy, and whilst Abraham is seemingly doing all he can to impress Antonio Conte on loan – it appears as though Solanke is going to take a different path.
