The Daily Star has Manchester United and Chelsea fans looking quite disappointed here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that the Premier League clubs are set to miss out on one of their top targets.
The player is question is Sergio Busquets who has been heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona in recent weeks.
However with the Catalan club’s transfer ban upheld, it seems that they are reluctant to see any of their stars even think about leaving and will offer the midfielder a contract that he simply cannot reuse.
As one of our punters notes, we think that Busquets would certainly represent a good addition to either Chelsea or United’s side with the latter more in need of a midfielder who can shield the back four and really boss a game.
However, it seems that the Spanish international will not be making a move any time soon and given he is now 26, we think this may well be the final big contract of his career.
