Chelsea: Many fans enjoyed Callum Hudson-Odoi’s display after return from injury

Callum Hudson-Odoi made his return from injury during Chelsea’s 7-1 victory over Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old spent a total of 114 days out due to an Achilles tendon rupture, as per Transfermarkt, but played the entire 90 minutes against the League Two opposition.

He finished off the evening by scoring the last of Chelsea’s seven goals in the 89th minute, driving past the defender before squeezing the ball beyond the goalkeeper at the near post, as shown in the highlights video on Chelsea’s official YouTube channel.

There were plenty of Chelsea fans who were also happy with his performance, with many of them already looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch in the Premier League.

Youngsters Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have all become trusted members of the squad this season, as indicated by the fact they all started against Liverpool, so there will be hope Hudson-Odoi can join them in being a regular feature.

A selection of Twitter reaction to the winger’s return, including posts from excited Chelsea fans, can be seen below.

One supporter has even dubbed him as the heir to Eden Hazard.
