Chelsea: Many fans frustrated by update on Emerson Palmieri’s injury

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Emerson Palmieri will not be available for Chelsea until after the international break, as reported by Simon Phillips.

The full-back came off during the 2-1 loss against Liverpool with just 15 minutes gone, as per WhoScored, after a recurrence of his thigh injury.

This offered an indication that he may be out for some time, which has now been confirmed:

“Andreas is not too severe. Hopefully he won’t be out for too long but I can’t give a timeframe. Emerson won’t be back until the other side of the international break [mid-October]. It is the reoccurrence of an injury so we have to be a bit careful with it.”

The Italy international will be a miss for Chelsea, as in his five Premier League starts so far, he has averaged 3 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 clearance, 1.2 key passes, 1.6 dribbles and 1 cross per game, while also having completed 84.1% of his passes – statistics that highlight just how well-rounded the 25-year-old’s game has been.

Many Chelsea fans are seeing his loss as a big blow for the side due to his recent level of performance, with some beginning to wonder whether they will ever get to see their defence at full strength.
