The Transfer Tavern was in shock yesterday as reports began to filter in suggesting that Oscar could be on his way out of Chelsea.
The Telegraph noted that a deal was in place, with Chelsea accepting a £60 million offer for the Brazilian – with a January sale beginning to look increasingly likely.
Now, just a day later, it would appear as though the deal is even closer than first thought.
Oscar himself has now spoken out on reports, and in an interview with SporTV, he said: “It’s 90% done. It just depends on some bureaucratic details”.
It would appear as though these reports cannot be described as rumours anymore. The deal has just been confirmed – and it has come straight from the horse’s mouth.
Judging by the speed at which this deal has progressed, it would seem that the deal could be completed as early as today.
The departure, though impressive due to the transfer fee involved, has led to a few mixed opinions from the punters in the Tavern. A few of the Chelsea fans leaning by the jukebox have questioned whether the move is shortsighted – considering how important Oscar was to the Blues’ first team just a few months ago.
Our landlord, though, thinks you can’t argue with numbers – and £60 million is an outrageous transfer fee for a player of Oscar’s quality.
