Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been drowning their sorrows following yet another defeat, their seventh in the Premier League season, but have seen a rise in morale after reading the latest from the gossip pages.
The Sunday People says the Blues are on ‘red alert’ to secure Diego Simeone, with the Argentine set to quit Atletico Madrid in the summer.
Whilst Simeone’s deal with the Spanish giants runs until 2020, it’s stated he has a clause that allows him to choose an exit- and wants a new challenge after five seasons in charge at the Vicente Calderon.
Chelsea, who have a strong relationship with Atletico due to their transfer business in recent years, would certainly be a tempting destination for the South American and the Blues would be desperate to secure his signature.
Fans at the bar are concerned that this does not solve their immediate issues though, as they grow increasingly worried by their current situation as they sit just three points above the relegation spots in the Premier League.
