There’s not been much to moan about for the Chelsea fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern over the last few months.
Antonio Conte looks like delivering a fifth Premier League title to Stamford Bridge and the Blues who frequent in their droves are already looking ahead to what is hopefully a busy summer of recruitment.
Having struggled so much to defend the Premier League title last season, reports from ESPN have out west London locals believing the club could be well-placed in doing so next term.
They claim Chelsea are keen on a move for Atheltic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte, as Conte looks to strengthen his backline.
The Frenchman, one of the classiest central defenders in La Liga, is thought to have a buyout clause of around £54.6m with the Basque outfit, one that will reportedly rise to £58.9m in a year’s time.
So, moving for him this summer around would save Roman Abramovich a few quid indeed.
With John Terry due to depart SW6 in just a few weeks time, the 23-year-old is already being talked about in the bar as his potential replacement.
Thoughts?
