Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is reportedly attracting interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are also rumoured to be keen, with Bakayoko admitting last month that he would love to play in the French capital.
“Yes, for sure, one day I would like to play in Paris,” he was quoted as saying by L’Equipe (via Evening Standard).
Bakayoko will surely find it difficult to become a first-team regular at Chelsea following a torrid debut season in England, with Frank Lampard himself criticising the Frenchman back in 2017.
The west London club are currently blessed with a host of midfield options who boast similar stats to the France international.
For example, when it came to tackles per game last season, Bakayoko and Jorginho both averaged roughly the same, making 2.3 and 2.1 respectively (as per WhoScored).
Meanwhile, every member of Chelsea‘s engine room from the previous term managed to record a higher pass success rate than Bakayoko’s 86.6%, with Mateo Kovacic’s 92% topping the charts.
Fine margins? Perhaps. For example, when you look at Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N’Golo Kante’s averages (both 87.9%), Bakayoko is hardly worlds apart.
But the point is that Chelsea already have options in the middle of the park, options who have shown via the above that they can do whatever Bakayoko can.
