Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are reacting to some major news concerning their off-field activities and it’s one that’s been met with mixed responses.
City AM reveal that Chelsea and kit manufacturer Adidas have agreed to end their deal together six-years early, with next season being the last that the Blues will have with the famous three-stripe jerseys.
The Blues have been associated with Adidas for the past decade, with the deal starting in 2006, and a 10-year extension to that deal was signed in 2013, with the plan of continuing the relationship between the two clubs until 2023.
However, a chance in strategy from Adidas will see them drastically reduce the amount of kits they make every year and the £30m agreement with Chelsea is one major deal that will be ended as a result.
It does give fans a reason to be excited for the future though, as the kit of the 2017/18 season will see significant changes from any jersey used in the past decade due to the absence of the famous three-stripes.
Our landlord believes this is a solid opportunity for Chelsea to increase their revenue and doesn’t think it’s too much of a deal, with a host of top-sides changing their manufacturers in recent years.
