Metro have Chelsea fans looking up with interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they seem to think that the Blues are ready to make a £150 million summer swoop for two of Real Madrid’s best players.
The duo in question are Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane, both of whom have been linked with the Premier League – and we think they would make a cracking summer statement from Jose Mourinho.
As one of our punters quips over a beer and burger at the bar, we already know how well Bale can do in the Premier League – and when it comes to Varane, not only is he one of the best young defenders out there, but he is also someone who Mourinho knows very well.
Chelsea may well face competition from Manchester United for the pair but we think Real Madrid would be willing to sell.
