For the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, John Terry will be impossible to replace this summer…
There are only a handful of players that could bring the influence – both on and off the pitch – that Terry can bring, and so Antonio Conte certainly needs to choose wisely as he looks to replace him.
A host of names have been passed around the Transfer Tavern in recent weeks, but it appears as though Antonio Conte may at least be considering a surprising move for one of Europe’s best central defenders.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have enquired about the availability of Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng – with Antonio Conte said to be a fan of the German.
Whilst he has had a tough year or so, there is no doubting that the defender is undoubtedly one of Europe’s best, having played a key role for Bayern Munich during a hugely dominant period for the German side.
Strong in the air, technical, quick, mobile – Boateng really has it all. Sure, at 28-years-old, he is no spring chicken – but John Terry will need to be replaced with someone that has experience, and Boateng certainly has that.
