The Chelsea fans, in the end, were pretty happy with their side’s summer business on deadline day…
It was a slow start for the Blues, but it ended with a flurry – with both Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta moving to Stamford Bridge towards the end of the day.
All told, it was a decent day – but could Chelsea’s business not yet be over?
Diego Costa’s future remains uncertain, and according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, a move away from Stamford Bridge could still happen. Solhekol notes that talks are planned between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid today as both clubs look to strike a deal.
More talks planned today (Friday) between Chelsea & Atletico Madrid about Diego Costa. Spanish window open until midnight

Significantly, the Spanish window doesn’t close until tonight, and so whilst yesterday was all about incoming players, today will be all about the prospect of a major departure.
In truth, it makes little sense that Chelsea have left it this late to secure a move, but that is the situation they have put themselves in – and now they must find an agreement.
Of course, the Blues can’t afford to keep him at the club – given his lack of fitness and his falling out with Antonio Conte – and so Atletico could be waiting until the final day in an effort to get the best deal for them.
Either way, Chelsea’s business looks far from over.
Landlord’s Verdict
It’s bizarre that Costa is still at the club, but it makes sense to make sure he isn’t still there this time tomorrow.
He has had a wonderful spell at Chelsea, and he deserves to go down in history, but it’s time for this chapter to close. Chelsea will be keen to strike a deal, and so Atletico could bag themselves a bargain.
