The Daily Telegraph have a claim that has Chelsea fans looking more than a little bit disappointed here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as they claim that the club will not be signing starlet Luke Shaw this winter.
The highly rated left back has made no secret of his admiration of both Chelsea and indeed Ashley Cole, who he claims is his idol, and now it seems despite that, he is happy at his current club.
Chelsea are clearly on the look out for a new left back, with Ashley Cole not getting any younger and his future in doubt anyway, with a new deal yet to be offered to the England International. Jose Mourinho has seemingly preferred Cesar Azpilicueta in recent weeks, but now Cole has the chance to earn his place back with injuries to other members of the squad.
A bid as high as £25 million has been mooted for Shaw, who also can count Manchester United amongst his list of suitors.
As our landlord pours a pint, he tells us that a move in the summer is likely, but for now, Chelsea and United will have to watch the bright prospect from a far.
