Every player is, at present, performing above expectations – and so it has come as no surprise to see the Blues leading the race for the Premier League title.
However, it seems as though the fine form of Chelsea’s players has not gone unnoticed – with Spanish publication Marca reporting that Barcelona were in attendance to watch Chelsea take on West Ham earlier this week.
Significantly, Marca report that Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and Nemanja Matic were being looked at by the Catalan giants – as the La Liga outfit look to prepare for life without Luis Enrique.
This has certainly unnerved the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, with the ever-present power of Barcelona often an impossible proposition to turn down. The likes of Azpilicueta, Alonso and Matic have all been absolutely vital for Conte this year, and to lose them would be a disaster next season.
Whilst Alonso and Matic are, arguably, expendable – Cesar Azpilicueta certainly is not, with the Spaniard a regular in London since his move to Stamford Bridge in 2012.
Able to play at left-back, right-back and centre-back – he is arguably the most useful player in the Chelsea first team, and so it is no surprise that Barcelona are keen, according to our landlord. Conte won’t let him go easily.
