With the fixtures for the next Premier League season now officially announced, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are even more desperate than ever for their side’s managerial situation to be sorted out.
Chelsea are facing the likes of Huddersfield and Arsenal in the opening weeks of the season, and so the Blues will need as much preparation as possible to stand any chance of starting the season well.
Fortunately, the Blues have been handed a bit of a boost in their managerial hunt, at least according to the Mirror.
A move for Sarri would be significant, of course, and a deal for Albiol would too. He’s an experienced hand at the back of the defence, and so the Chelsea brass have clearly identified that area as a bit of a problem.
Whether the Blues make their move remains to be seen, though, with other options also on the agenda.
Landlord’s Verdict
A move for Sarri has looked like Chelsea’s most likely move for a while, but whether it happens is still up in the air. The rumours haven’t gone away, though, and the Blues are evidently just as keen as they were beforehand, too.
A move for Albiol is an interesting one. It’s significant as Chelsea have typically moved for younger players as of late, and at 32-years-old, he doesn’t fit that bill. Perhaps, though, signing him would be Chelsea’s way of justifying spending a little bit more on getting their manager of choice.
Still, whatever happens, a resolution is needed quickly – as pre-season is approaching quickly.
