The dreams of Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed a fairly large blow today, as a club president warned the Blues off a January swoop.
TalkSport declare Chelsea are extremely keen on Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi, a 21-year-0ld who has hit 33 goals in his last 67 Serie A appearances, but face competition from Liverpool, Manchester United and Juventus.
However, Sassuolo managing director Giovanni Carnevali has thrown a spanner in the works of Chelsea’s plotted January swoop; indicating the Italian side have no desire to part-ways with the excelling youngster.
“I can rule out a January move. That’s not part of our company policy.”
The comments come as a blow to Chelsea who have seen Diego Costa struggle to replicate last season’s form, whilst summer addition Radamel Falcao has flopped and Loic Remy has been largely unimpressive.
With the Blues likely to move for a forward in January, Berardi was the perfect signing in the mind of many of our Chelsea regulars but they will now have to contemplate other options.
Chelsea fans, could Berardi be the man to save your season? Let us know in the comments below!
