Metro have Liverpool fans looking up with some serious interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they seem to think that the Reds have been handed a massive boost when it comes to one of their top targets.
Ezequiel Lavezzi has been on the brink of a move away from Paris Saint-Germain and it had been thought that the Reds were leading the race.
However, late interest from his former side Napoli, now of course managed by former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, had caused some concern ahead of that transfer window slamming shut.
Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon spoke with Sky Italian and noted: “Though we love the player and his qualities, we are well stocked in the attacking department, both in terms of quantity and quality.”
We think that with the transfer window shutting imminently, this can only be a good thing for Liverpool and we saw against Chelsea how badly the club need someone who is clinical and ruthless up top and we think Lavezzi could well be that man for them.
