With Chelsea looking like champions in waiting, the fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing the summer ahead of them as they gear up for a return to the Champions League.
Having watched their club crumble during the last defence of a Premier League title at Stamford Bridge, our punters are rather wary indeed about the work those behind the scenes must do on the transfer front, to truly ensure they are not left in a similar position to Jose Mourinho’s last campaign.
So, reports from the Sun have sparked major interest on that front. They claim the Blues are keen on selling Diego Costa this summer in order to fund a £95m DOUBLE move for both Everton star Romelu Lukaku and Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata.
Costa was linked with a move to the Chinese Super League in January and, while he is crucial to their cause right now, top brass in SW6 are understood to be willing to sell. Indeed, Conte and sporting director Michael Emenalo are believed to have agreed to move him on in the summer to make way for the new generation.
While our west London locals would be gutted to lose the Spaniard, the thought of seeing two of Europe’s most promising forwards is rather exciting indeed.
Would this be a good deal for Chelsea? Let us know below…
