It was a night to forget for Premier League leaders Chelsea this past week, following their 2-0 reverse to a rampant Tottenham Hotspur side on Wednesday evening which blew the race to secure the title wide open.
It was a result which dismayed the Chelsea supporters here in the Transfer Tavern, with many changing their taxis to take them home in order to stay at the bar getting further intoxicated .
Chelsea had been in fine form this season with Antonio Conte leading his charges to the summit of the Premier League at this midway stage, although last night’s result leaves the Italian boss with plenty to ponder.
Talk in the Tavern has turned towards potential January recruits and the consensus among the lads here in the bar is that the club needs competition for Diego Costa in attack.

The Inter Milan skipper could depart from the Italian giants in the near future and Chelsea should throw themselves right to the top of the pile in the race for his signature.

Although the West Ham United star isn’t an out-and-out striker, he would still make a quality addition to the Chelsea attacking ranks.
Antonio is blessed with the ability to play in a number of positions on the football field and the speed merchant is thought to be firmly on the radar of Chelsea.
The ex-Nottingham Forest man is also highly-rated by the Chelsea contingent here in the Tavern, who believe that Antonio would be a class addition to their current crop of players
