Conte must consider signing these 2 African stars for Chelsea in January

The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have had some great African talents in recent years…

From Didier Drogba to the likes of Michael Essien, Chelsea have frequently looked towards African stars over the last few years as some of Europe’s biggest and best talents begin to emerge.

Under Antonio Conte, the Blues are in desperate need of January reinforcement – and our landlord thinks that they should look towards the African market once more.

It has proven fruitful in recent years, and there are some world-class talents that could be on the move in the new year.

With that said, Conte must consider signing these TWO African stars for Chelsea in January…

Riyad Mahrez

Mahrez

Riyad Mahrez was reportedly on Chelsea’s radar over the summer, but the Algerian instead opted to stay with Leicester – though that could change in January.

Despite winning the league last year, the Foxes have struggled this year – and currently sit in 12th place.

Given that some of Europe’s top sides were keen on Mahrez last year, he could see fit to request a move – and he would certainly be an improvement on Chelsea’s current crop of attacking midfielders.

Fabregas and Oscar have looked poor so far this year, and Mahrez would no doubt come in and be able to improve on his form from last season when surrounded by the quality of players currently at Chelsea.

Though difficult, a deal could definitely happen – and Chelsea should look to make the first move.

Kalidou Koulibaly

Kalidou Koulibaly was a primary target for Chelsea over the summer, and despite recently signing a new deal – you can expect the Blues to try again for the Senegalese international.

Napoli’s president recently suggested that a deal with Chelsea could happen next year, but the Blues could try and take an early jump and seal the deal in January.

The Blues desperately need defensive depth, with Cahill and Ivanovic woefully out of form. Conte is clearly a big fan of Koulibaly – and he could now be more open to a deal.
