It has been a mixed start to the 2016/17 Premier League season for the Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Despite starting with a 100% record, the Blues have gone somewhat off the boil in recent weeks. Without a win in 3, Antonio Conte’s men have left a concerned look on the faces of some of the Chelsea faithful in the Tavern.
It is not all bad news for the Blues however. Antonio Conte, unlike managers before him, is seemingly happy to change something when it is not working; as evidenced by Chelsea’s formation switch against Arsenal last weekend.
There are a number of players that just aren’t playing well enough to be included in Antonio Conte’s squad every week – and as a result some players need to come in in their place.
With that said, Antonio Conte must start these 3 Chelsea players in every game from now on…
Marcos Alonso
Marcos Alonso has not been given much of a look in so far this season, but this needs to change – starting at Hull this weekend.
Branislav Ivanovic’s form so far this year has been nothing short of disastrous – and as a result he needs to be dropped.
Marcos Alonso coming into the side not only allows a genuine left back play on the left hand side, but it would also allow Cesar Azpilicueta to return to his more natural right hand side – allowing him to be more effective both going forwards and defensively.
Marcos Alonso offers more than Ivanovic in every way; and he needs to be given an opportunity to prove that.
Cesc Fabregas
The Arsenal game aside, Cesc Fabregas has impressed every time he has played so far this season.
Whether via the bench, or from the start in cup games – Fabregas has been a vital part of the team whenever he has made an appearance – and he deserves a start as a result.
Oscar works hard, granted – but that has been ineffective in helping Chelsea defensively. The Blues have still been poor at the back.
Cesc Fabregas not only scores goals, but he also provides them – and Diego Costa is always more effective when Fabregas plays.
He must start.
Michy Batshuayi
Michy Batshuayi’s arrival in the Chelsea first team would likely force a formation change – but it needs to happen.
Whenever the Belgian has come on he has scored goals, and having two strikers on the pitch has been very refreshing at times this season.
He could form an excellent partnership with Diego Costa going forward – and given Chelsea’s lack of results in recent weeks; now is the time to try it.
He is bang in form; and he needs a chance to prove that.
