It has been a very mixed few weeks for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…
Only a few weeks ago, they were busy ordering celebratory drinks after securing a vital win against Atletico Madrid, only to be drowning their sorrows a few days later after a defeat to Man City.
Such is life at the pinnacle of European football, incredible highs are often mixed with crushing lows – and that was definitely the case for Chelsea prior to the international break.
The international break itself can only be categorised as a low for the Blues too, mainly because of all of the injury news that came out of it. The most significant victim was N’Golo Kante, who suffered an injury whilst representing France.
Fears have been rampant in the pub about the severity of the injury over the last few days, but now Antonio Conte has delivered the news that Chelsea fans have been fearing.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s game with Crystal Palace, Conte has revealed that Kante is expected to be out for close to three weeks, though another scan is likely to either increase or decrease that period.
On Kante, Conte says it's a muscular problem and he could be out for around 20 days but another scan is needed to understand more. #CFC

Whichever way you spin it, this is bad news for the Blues. Chelsea rely on Kante so much, and now he looks set to be out until early November at the very least.
As a result, the Frenchman will miss a number of important games, including potentially a doubleheader against AS Roma, and so Conte will have to work hard to replace him.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperately hoping that the scan provides some good news.
Landlord’s Verdict
It’s a big problem for Chelsea, but fortunately, their Premier League schedule is fairly easy over the coming weeks, and so Conte should be able to manage.
Perhaps it will be time for Tiemoue Bakayoko to step up and prove his worth. Perhaps David Luiz could also move into the midfield, too. Conte definitely has options.
