Conte set to axe big name Chelsea star in January

It’s all smiles amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, who’ve been enjoying life under the stewardship of Antonio Conte, ever since the Italian reverted to a 3-4-3 system.

Having initially struggled to keep solid, the former Juventus and Italy coach is certainly earning his money at Stamford Bridge and is showing the sort of quality that’s made him such a revered tactician.

Due to his change in system, a number of top level Blues stars have tended to miss out on game time of late.

Now, according to the Times, one of those could be loaned out as soon as January.

They claim the west London giants are giving serious thought to loaning out Cesc Fabregas in the New Year sales as they attempt to bring in another midfielder themselves.

The World Cup winner has struggled to dislodge either N’Golo Kante or Nemanja Matic in the engine room recently, starting just one game all season since Conte’s arrival.

Chelsea could reportedly subsidise some of his massive wages in order to force through a deal, for a man who has struggled to find his best form for the club ever since they won the league title back in 2015.
