Conte simply must sign these 2 Italian players for Chelsea in January

Chelsea seem to have had a real link with Italy in recent times.

With the likes of Gianfranco Zola and Gianluca Vialli as players followed by the likes of Claudio Ranieri and Carlo Ancelotti as managers, the club have had a connection with the country for some time.

And now our resident Blues fans here in the Transfer Tavern are seeing that connection come to prominence again with their latest Italian manager Antonio Conte.

He’s certainly had an impact on the club already with his impassioned antics on the touchline, and his decision to switch to a typically Italian three at the back for the club, has seen them propel themselves back into the title race.

The former Juventus boss is really winning over the fans and our landlord reckons he can do so even more in the January transfer window, particularly if he signs these TWO Italians…

Leonardo Bonucci

Whilst David Luiz has done pretty well so far this season in silencing his critics you have to say Conte would still like someone like Bonucci in that new back-three he has implemented.

None of his current centre-halves have played in a three man defence before and so there will still be teething problems.

Bonucci is a world class defender, too, and that would obviously help.

Giacomo Bonaventura

Bonaventura is 27-years-old but has only really come on to the scene in the last few years for AC Milan.

Nevertheless, he’s certainly here now and looks like he’s going to be key in Milan’s challenge for the title.

Whilst stopping Juventus will be hard, the club are only five points behind but if Chelsea do come calling he’d surely find their prospects of silverware better than at the San Siro.
