Contract breakdown puts Manchester United on red alert

They look likely to go for Kroos in the summer John Edwards from Mail Online is one of those taking advantage of the two-for-one drinks offer in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.

Edwards takes a seat at the bar to tell me that Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos’ uncertain contract situation is attracting attention from a host of Premier League suitors.

Manchester United manager David Moyes was strongly linked with the attacking midfielder during the recent transfer window but no move materialised.

However Kroos’ current contract at the Allianz Arena expires in summer of 2015, and the 24-year-old is thought to want to double his salary of £60,000; something the current Club World Cup champions are willing to do at this stage which still leaves his future in doubt.

The German international was reduced to a bench role with Pep Guardiola’s side during their 5-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday and this has led to suggestions that the contract dispute is now affecting his position in the Bavarian team.

With no sign of Kroos backing down over his contract demands, Edwards informs me that United could now face competition for the talented German with Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea all reportedly looking at him as a option in the summer.

It is possible that Bayern could still negotiate a deal with the midfielder, although the mere thought of Kroos heading to England in the summer is certainly one for our punters to look forward to.
