The Arsenal fas in the Transfer tavern all seem pleased that their club is being closely linked with a move for Gelson Martins of Sporting. The winger is one of a number of players set to cancel his contract with the Portuguese club, freeing up a move to The Emirates.
Gelson is one of those who has been looked at by a number of top clubs across Europe. The sharp winger’s ability to beat a man and chip in with both goals and assists from the wing has made him one of Europe’s brightest prospects this summer. Arsenal and Unai Emery could be landing a bargain by getting him on a free and it’ll be interesting to see how he adapts to the Premier League.
It’s no secret that Arsenal will be looking for a winger this summer. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is more of an interior, Alex Iwobi isn’t good enough and Danny Welbeck will be used as a backup to both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. If the club do go for Gelson it’s easy to see that he’ll be a first-team option, the fans will just be hoping he is the real deal.

Lozano, Pavon, Guedes, Martins – some excellent out-and-out wingers playing at this world cup, who could be a useful addition for Arsenal.
