Coventry City Mark Robins has outlined his summer transfer plans ahead of the 2020/2021 Championship season.
The Sky Blues have made a quite sensational return to the Championship, having gained promotion from League One after the 2019/2020 campaign was ended via a points-per-game system, ultimately seeing them go up via the automatic route.
Boss Robins will undoubtedly be fully focused on improving his squad for the challenge of England’s second flight and two deals have already been completed.
The first player to arrive last week was former Feyenoord midfielder Gustavo Hamer, whilst Julien Dacosta has also arrived to bolster Robins’ defensive options.
With those two signings already done and dusted, Robins has now spoken about his desire to improve further in the defensive area, whilst also touching on some unnamed attacking targets that he is looking in to.
“It is a really good start for us but clearly we have a lot of work to improve within the squad and that is continuing so hopefully we can get some more news soon,” Robins told BBC CWR as quoted via Coventry LIVE.
“The way things are set up is brilliant. Chris Badlan [head of recruitment] does a great job, him and Stuart Benthon. They’ve got six scouts and they’re all UK based.
“Chris has been going abroad to look at some players but clearly they’ve got to try and maximise the market. We still need more.
“We need strength and depth. Championship teams have strong squads, so we have to try and strengthen as much as we can.
“They’ve got numbers in the striking areas too, so we need to do something there and in defence too.
“There are games still being played, so we can’t sign a lot of those players yet but hopefully, the transfer window will open soon.”
Coventry are also said to be still in the running to complete a deal to bring in former Aston Villa midfielder Callum O’Hare, who is available on a free transfer after seeing his deal at Villa Park come to an end.

It does seem that by his comment regarding players still playing that he and his scouting staff have identified some potential Championship players, which would add experience to the squad.
