The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern cheered the final whistle at St James’ Park today.
In what promised to be a tricky game on paper, Newcastle limited Liverpool to a few chances and ended up drawing the game 1-1.
This means that the Magpies go into the international break in 9th place and they are high on confidence after a solid display.
Liverpool took the lead in the first half thanks to a stunning long range effort from Philippe Coutinho.
But Newcastle hit back soon after with the ball fortuitously ricocheting off Joselu and into the back of the net.
Newcastle were largely untroubled after that and contained a dangerous Liverpool attack well, much to the satisfaction of their fan base.
