It’s been another strange old season for Arsenal this term, with manager Arsene Wenger once again coming under big pressure and results often being riddled with inconsistency.
Gunners fans in general have cut a frustrated bunch, and a January overhaul in terms of players, with Alexis Sanchez finally leaving the club, may well have a positive long term effect on matters within the Emirates Stadium.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord hates to see the Gunners fans arguing, and this weekend has given them a welcome rest from life in the Premier League with the international break in full flight, and there’s been plenty of talk about who the club could move to sign in the summer.
One name who has kept cropping up is Crystal Palace and Holland defender Patrick Van Aanholt, who is proving to be a shrewd purchase for Palace following his move from Sunderland a few seasons back.
The flying left sided Dutchman is a quality attacking full back, and has seriously impressed at times this term with his surging forward runs and ability to get into dangerous attacking areas.
While the Gunners have Hector Bellerin down one side, the left hand side has looked shakey, and new signing Sead Kolasinac has been inconsistent with his own performances following his summer move from Schalke.
A quality and proven Premier League operator, Van Aanholt could prove to be quite the buy for the Gunners if they decide to make their move.
Arsenal fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
