Many Crystal Palace fans are reacting to the latest reports around the future of defender Patrick van Aanholt, who is attracting interest from an unnamed club.
According to Football Insider and tweeted out by @cpfc_xtra, the Palace full-back has opened talks with an unnamed Champions League side.
The Dutchman has been solid at the club for many seasons, however this campaign he has been underperforming and has been slated on many occasions by the South London fanbase. His contract expires in the summer and it looks like the club do not want to keep him as there have been no reports of discussions over extending his contract.
He has started to be replaced by exciting academy prospect Tyrick Mitchell, who is having a great campaign. He has managed 3.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.5 clearances a game, (WhoScored).
With van Aanholt, who is valued at around £7.20m, now 30, (Transfermarkt) it seems best for all parties to allow the player to leave, and the Palace fan base certainly agree, as you can see below.
Here is what CPFC fans said about van Aanholt:
“Best for everyone if he goes tbh”

“He’s done well for us, mainly going forwards. His defending has always been a little suspect. Interesting to see if we look to replace him with someone as cover for Mitchell or will use Clyne as that cover when Ferguson is fit”
