Crystal Palace are trying to tie Patrick van Aanholt down to a new contract, but with a deal not agreed yet, other sides have been alerted.
According to Football Insider, Ajax are lining up a move for Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt ahead of the January window.
Van Aanholt does provide a lot for the South London side offensively, as the left-back has managed to score 14 goals and pick up five assists whilst at the club.
Last season, Tony Cascarino was full of praise for the Dutchman as he said: “His season has just been pretty spectacular for me. Him and Gary Cahill have done brilliantly at Palace.”
However, fellow left-back Tyrick Mitchell is now starting to become a fan favourite for his defensive prowess, so maybe the Dutchman’s possible departure wouldn’t be a disaster.
The 21-year old has managed on average 2.3 clearances and four tackles a game this term (WhoScored). He has made 24 tackles in total, which was the joint-fourth most in the league before his injury. This good form has left fans not too worried about van Aanholt’s potential exit.
