Crystal Palace receive boost ahead of Liverpool clash

The London Evening Standard are reporting that Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann should be fit for the visit of Liverpool to Selhurst Park this weekend – much to the relief of the Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern.

The centre-half, who was appointed captain in the summer after Mile Jedinak left for Aston Villa, has been out with a hamstring injury, but is now reportedly back in full training.

Dann missed a clash against Leicester City at the weekend, with that match finishing 3-1 – suggesting that Palace were missing the defender’s stability in defence.

Liverpool, meanwhile, maintained their title charge against West Brom at Anfield on Saturday evening with a 2-1 victory, and will be looking to get the better of Palace this weekend.

This fixture last season saw a late Christian Benteke win the game for the Anfield club but the Belgian is now on the Eagles’ books and should also start with Dann against the Reds.

The news of Dann’s return will come as a huge boost to Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew, with the defender performing well so far this year. He has already picked up two league goals this season, in addition to the 5 that he picked up in the last campaign.

He has really turned into the perfect centre-half.
