Crystal Palace: Arsenal interested in Patrick van Aanholt

Crystal Palace look set to have a quiet transfer deadline day when it comes to signing players, however a fresh rumour suggests that Patrick van Aanholt could be on the way out.
The latest transfer news
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are considering a late move for Eagles defender Patrick van Aanholt. The report suggests that no bid has been made but the player is a target as the Gunners look for cover for Kieran Tierney.
Palace should keep a hold of the Dutchman
Van Aanholt started in the 1-0 victory against Wolves on Saturday, even though Roy Hodgson has started to favour emerging academy star Tyrick Mitchell over the Dutchman in recent fixtures.
The 30-year-old, who is valued at £7.20m on Transfermarkt, could leave on a free transfer in the summer due to his current contract running out in June, and therefore, the South London side have a big decision to make.
He is currently on £55,000-a-week (Sportrac), which is £2.86m-a-year, and so if Hodgson did favour Mitchell, so some may think it is a good idea to let van Aanholt leave.
However, it would leave them with only one full-back on the left in Mitchell, so it would be very silly to let him go. The Dutchman has great experience and Mitchell is still learning his craft – it would be an enormous amount of pressure to put on the youngster to be the club’s only option in that position.
