Kevin Phillips has been reacting to an injury update regarding Celtic midfielder David Turnbull, as per Football Insider.
The Lowdown: Return to training
The Scotland international hasn’t been seen in 2022 due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the Scottish League Cup final in December.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have managed to cope without their creative force, though, and are now three points clear at the top of the Premiership.
The Celtic boss has recently admitted that Turnbull is set to return to full training this week and hasn’t ruled out a return for the 22-year-old on Saturday against Ross County.
The Latest: Phillips’ comments on Turnbull
Phillips, who contributes as a pundit for Sky Sports, had this to say to Football Insider on Turnbull returning from injury, describing it as ‘perfect timing’ and a ‘massive boost’ for Celtic:

“It’s perfect timing for this time of season and the run-in.
“To get your best players back gives everyone a huge lift. It’s always critical they come back with that experience and help the players.
“When everyone might start to get a little bit nervy and edgy, to have one of your best players back calms everyone down.
“It’s a massive boost from their point of view.”
The Verdict: Turnbull to play his part…
Turnbull may well take some time to get back up to speed, but it seems as if he will play his part as the Hoops look to wrestle back the Premiership title from Rangers.
He has created a whopping 3.54 chances per 90 in 28 games under Postecoglou, contributing to 13 goals in the process. [BBC]
It will be a big boost knowing that their man creator is back in training, and hopefully he will pick up from where he left off prior to his hamstring issue as Postecoglou eyes a domestic treble in his first season at the Celtic helm.
