Chelsea simply have to sign a few players on deadline day, at least according to the fans in the Transfer Tavern…

The Blues have struggled over the last month or so to bring in any players, despite the clear need to do so. They can’t afford to continue that trend as the deadline approaches, though. They must bring a few players in today.

So, who could be on Chelsea’s shopping list?

It’s clear that they need a few new stars, but what is less clear is where they will need them to play. Improvement is needed up and down the pitch. The defence is an area of weakness, for sure, but the midfield is a real area of concern too.

There’s only a day to tie the deals up, though, so Conte may have to focus on a few more realistic targets.

With that said, here are 2 deals that Chelsea should complete today…

 Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley could be a genuine option.

He’s unavailable for a few months, but his return will give Antonio Conte something to look forward to as the season reaches its peak.

A versatile option, he’s able to play as both an attacking and slightly deeper-lying midfielder – and that could be just the ticket for the Blues.

Barkley is also still young, and he has bags of potential.

 Danny Drinkwater

Danny Drinkwater could be perfect for Chelsea.

N’Golo Kante built a fine relationship with him whilst at Leicester, and this could offer a real option for Antonio Conte this term. He’s not as high-profile as his French teammate, but don’t take anything away from him – he’s a top talent.

As a homegrown player, he would also help to improve Chelsea’s quota in that regard.

Leicester won’t want to sell, but a move makes sense.
